Abstract

The author presents his thoughts on palliative care provided by community nurses in the 21st century and the influence of factors such greater desire for death to occur at home rather than at institutions or hospitals. He goes on to discuss how this can lead to stronger relationships between nurses and patient families as well as how palliative care can manage patient expectations and emphasize quality of life.
