Social theory and sociological ideas run through or infuse most if not all humanities research projects. Theory can be overtly recognized and explored or, more frequently, it is implicitly assumed.
Researchers who are also professionals (e.g., nurses, teachers, physiotherapists, paramedics etc.) often invoke or reference social theory/sociological ideas without prior training or education. That is, they use and deploy (or overlook) theories/ideas - but - they do so unaware of the full meaning or implications of doing so.
This workshop explores some of the problems and issues that are thrown up by this practice.
