Abstract
In 2006, the Higher Education Academy (HEA) published a set of documents offering guidance and information to staff involved in the enhancement of student employability within higher education institutions (HEIs). One of these publications, Pedagogy for employability, identified some of the pedagogic principles relevant to employability development. In 2011, the HEA invited tenders to revise Pedagogy for Employability, to ensure that approaches outlined in the guide remain contemporary and to ensure that new uses of higher education assessment, learning and teaching techniques were recognised.
The revised and updated version of Pedagogy for employability was published by the HEA in February 2012.
Measuring the impact of interventions and support is central to the HEA’s strategic objectives. This impact study aims to determine whether (and how) Pedagogy for employability (2012) has influenced employability policy and practice in HEIs and, if so, at what level: individual, departmental or institution-wide.
