Abstract

The article reports on the ways counselors in an HIV clinic in Lagos, Nigeria are using matchmaking to help their HIV-positive patients find love and friendship. Data from the Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS estimate that there are around 3.3 million people in the country who have AIDS or are HIV-positive as of 2011. Counselors at the clinic based at the Nigerian Institute of Medical Research reveal that the process of matchmaking depends on the specific needs of individual patients
