Abstract

This is a site report of the 1998 season of research, including survey and excavations results from the unenclosed settlement at Baldhowend, Cumbria. The results from season one include the identification of three round houses and associated external features, within the settlement bounds. Radiocarbon dates indicate activity from the late first millenniumb BC into the Roman period. Finds include glass bangles, worked metal and abundant ground stone tools and grinding slabs.
