Abstract
Easy access to high quality, relevant reading has been more important than ever over the past year. Online Resource Lists are a crucial tool in supporting teaching excellence and, at University of Worcester, we have been successful in embedding the use of online Resource Lists into teaching and learning with examples of innovative practice found across disciplines and course-types. As a result, we wanted to build on this success by considering more fully student experiences of reading and the role of the Resource List in promoting student attainment.
The Resource List Engagement Project, delivered by Library Services in collaboration with academic colleagues, combined enhanced Resource List data from the Talis Advanced Management Information System (MIS) with internal measures such as module-level grade profiles and staff and student feedback. The project aimed to offer insight into experiences of engagement with selected module Resource Lists, consider how engagement with Resource Lists may support student success and to showcase a wide variety of best practice whilst recognising different disciplines, assessment types and pedagogical approaches.
This session will explore the process of delivering a collaborative engagement project during the pandemic and share the findings of the work, including what our staff and student participants revealed about their own experiences of module Resource Lists. We will also examine the outcomes and longer term impact of the work and explore its potential to frame discussions around the pedagogy of Resource Lists and use an evidence-based approach to share practical tips for making the most of Resource List design to support reading and enhance student satisfaction and success.
